community cafés

As part of the Healthy Pompey project to encourage people to eat well and move more to combat weight-related health problems, Yellow Kite, Portsmouth's new community catering social enterprise, will provide affordable, ethical and healthy food across the city.

Yellow Kite has opened its first cafe at the D-Day Musuem on Southsea seafront offering healthy food with a twist. The cafe is open to all and you don't need to buy a museum ticket to visit. Visit the Yellow Kite page for more information.

There is also an existing network of over 15 community centres with kitchen facilities, providing regular community food provision in the form of cafés and lunch clubs.

We aim to develop a social enterprise that will increase access to affordable healthy food, increase awareness and understanding of the importance of nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle as well as providing training and employment opportunities for local people.
